So you would like to practice Pilates? The first question you need to answer is whether you wish to attend a “Studio” or “Mat-Work” Class.

Pilates Mat-Work Classes are often held in groups of anything from 6-30 people. They are also performed without the use of specialized Pilates equipment, (although sometimes small apparatus may be used). The class is structured around the level of group you attend and is therefore not personalized to each individual. More about matwork…

A Pilates Studio offers semi-private tuition with full use of the original Pilates apparatus, such as the Reformer, Cadillac and Wunda Chair. Classes are tailored to your own personal needs, making them highly suitable for those recovering from injury or illness. More about Studio Pilates…

The fundamental mat-work exercises, which form the core of the technique, must also be learnt in the studio. However, you will then be able to use the springs and pulleys of the equipment to increase muscle resistance and thereby enhance your routine. A Pilates studio is NOT a more advanced form of Pilates.

Pre/Post Natal Pilates can be practiced either in a studio or in a mat class situation.

Pilates Plus offers both Studio and Mat-Work classes. To find out how we operate please navigate the appropriate links above. If you are still unsure feel free to give us a call and we will happily advise you.
