PILATES EQUIPMENT STUDIO 4

“Sarah and Pilates Plus operate as a major force within the St Margarets’ community and beyond, contributing to both our physical and mental wellbeing.”

Pilates Plus has been providing Pilates tuition in St Margaret’s for 21 years.

We pride ourselves on giving caring tuition, tailored to the individuals’ needs. The small size of our classes enables us to pay attention to the smallest details and, we believe, sets us apart from other studios.

Movement will nourish and hydrate you, bringing energy and wellbeing to your mind and body. There’s no better time to start than now, and it’s never too late!

“Pilates Plus is in a class of its own when it comes to teaching. Above all it’s a really friendly place where everyone is treated as an individual with their own needs and goals. All ages too. Thoroughly recommend you give it a go”

WHAT IS A PILATES EQUIPMENT STUDIO?

Pilates originates from a studio, such as ours, where equipment designed by Joseph Pilates, the Reformer, Cadillac and Wunda chair are used to teach you the Pilates method. It is NOT a more advanced form of Pilates, as we can choose to use the equipment either to support or challenge you!

HOW DO THE CLASSES WORK?

Your first class will be private. Your instructor will give a postural assessment and instruct you in the fundamentals of Pilates whilst designing a programme to meet your individual needs. Following that you may choose to continue with privates or join a group class. We take a maximum of 3 clients at a time ensuring attention to detail at all times. You will continue to be instructed in your own personal programme. We are also happy for you to arrange your own duet if you’d like to train with a partner or friend.

WHO ARE THE CLASSES SUITABLE FOR?

We cater for ALL ages and abilities. Post-op rehabilitation, injury, pre and post natal as well as those looking to improve posture and muscle tone or train for a particular event. Find out more about how we can help with specific needs here.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I TAKE A CLASS?

Pilates is a form of body maintenance and is not an overnight cure that will fix your problems in a certain amount of sessions. It is advisable in the beginning to attend at least one class a week, two if possible. Consistency is key to changing muscle memory and it will forget quickly in the early days! You may want to consider supplementing your sessions with our virtual AWAKENING or strength classes.

CONCENTRATION, CONTROL, CENTERING, FLOW, PRECISION AND BREATH

These are the 6 main Pilates principles. Evolved from techniques created by Joseph H Pilates more than 70 years ago. Pilates is a non-aerobic form of exercise that dramatically improves strength, flexibility, coordination and posture. Controlled, smoothly flowing exercises train both the body and mind, improving posture, muscle imbalances and body awareness. Deep, lateral breathing is encouraged, helping circulation, energy levels and general wellbeing.
